2012 Ebony Lace
Ebony Lace consists of two large-scale works that experiment with a unique construction process. The approach in creating the work looks at the Japanese philosophy Wabi Sabi meaning the celebration of imperfection and impermanence in the handmade. Embedded in the lace panel is a deliberate “mistake” to emphasise the bespoke qualities of handmade crafted design. The work was selected for The 7th International Fiber Art Biennale Exhibition, From Lausanne to Beijing, Nantong, China 8th November 2012- 12th January 2013. Ebony Lace received a Highly Commended Award from the Biennale.
