2011-2013 Sensorial Loop

1st Tamworth Textile Triennial, Sensorial Loop

24 Sept - 26 Nov 2011

Aerial Lace is a suite of contemporary “lace postcards” that explore memory, place and identity. It is an expression of my own story and experience of migration from Santiago de Chile to Sydney Australia as a young child of seven. The spaces in the work signify the gaps and silences of a past that is recollected and imagined through the present lens of a new country.
Aerial Lace toured nationally for two years as part of the 1st Tamworth Textile Triennial, Sensorial Loop. The Triennial featured the work of 22 textile artists from around Australia exploring the change and blurring boundaries in Australian textile practice. The Triennial is an incarnation of the Tamworth Fibre Textile Biennial, and continues to be a rigorous and stimulating contribution to Australia’s cultural calendar.
